Miller UK was founded as a mobile welding service provider in 1978, but soon expanded its operations into bucket manufacturing. Over the following five years, its customer base expanded from local to global level, and by 1989 Miller had launched the world's first pin-grab quick coupler.

This product was a revolution in changing buckets and attachments. A long and often dangerous process was reduced to a fast, simple and safe procedure.

To achieve predictable product parameters with regard to load and stress, Miller uses Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) as part of its design process. In these tests, quality is physically verified through cyclic, destructive and operational tests, where the load parameters are deliberately set significantly higher than usual under normal operation.
